Bug Out Bag for Airline Travel

Bonnie Hiler posted this question below: “I want to take my BOB with on a airplane, what am going to have to remove from it to fly? My daughter got shook down for a bottle of lotion that was over the 4 oz limit.”
Some comments we received:
Comment #1: Check the BOB in a suitcase! Make sure you have nothing pressurized or flammable in it. That includes magnesium fire starter.
Comment #2: We recommend you either check it as baggage or ship it your destination.
Comment #3: I would check it and carry a modified edc on. I usually have a paracord bracelet on my purse strap. I usually carry on A bottle or two of water, a high calorie emergency bar and a couple of snack bars. An extra charged battery for my phone and battery charger. I also carry a small cheap flashlight but sometimes they take it so make sure it is cheap. Don’t know why but i don’t argue. Meds, sanitary supplies, mini first aid kit, folded up duct tape and kleenex. And a really good book, a pencil, notepad and a game magazine. Basically i tried to be prepared to sit on the tarmac for hours. Seems it is happening more and more these days. I put it all in a small totebag that zips or a small book bag. My bob wouldn’t is too big to meet the carry on size requirements anyway. I see people who check their fullsize backpacks all the time especially in places like Denver.
Comment #4: Best thing to do is check the TSA website, all the items that are banned for caryon and checked luggage should be listed there. Also be sure to check the regulations for each country you travel through, what may be fine in the states may get you in trouble elce where. Also there are special regulations for firearms in checked luggage, they must be declaimed to the airline and you will need special documents to travel with them to other countries.
