Comment#1: Doggie boots! can be pricey for good ones but they are great to have for your pup.

Comment#2: Have a muzzle in the first aid kit. any serious injury the dog will instinctively snap at you when you try to administer first aid to the wound site.

Comment#3: Crazy glue seals wounds in a pinch. Takes up no space in your pack.

Comment#4: Make sure rabies vaccination is up to date and keep the leash on. Tick drops a couple weeks before the hike.
