Comment #1: It’s part of your 10 essentials. A length of rope that is, but para cord is much more than that! You have 7 small cords inside the sheath that are 35 lb test you can break it down further to single strand @ 14.5 lb test. So say you carry 50′ of para cord. Let’s do some math 50×7= 350 ft of 35 lb test or double that for 14.5 lb test!
Comment #2: 550 paracord is used for anything you want to use it for. Literally. It has a breaking point at 550 pounds, it doesn’t dry/rot/mildew ect. You can use the inner strands as other rope. It’s the most diverse thing ever made.
Comment #3: Saving lives:I read an article last winter where a woman was stuck on a frozen lake, her legs in the freezing water. A passer by,wearing a braided para-cord bracelet knew she was gona die soon if she didnt get to the shore,so he unravelled his bracelet and by adding the length of cord to his belt wich he removed also,he managed to get the cord/belt out to her and she and her dog survived thanks to a stranger,para-cord and quick calm thinking.
