Physical fitness as a survival skill

We posted on our Facebook page:

How many of us think of physical fitness as a survival skill and how are you on working on that “skill?”

Some comments we received:

Comment#1: Yes and other then running after my four kids I like to bike ride in the woods, hiking and we have been walking and biking around town more.

Comment#2: I agree. You have to be not only physically fit but also mentally fit. It’s no good if you can’t get around and its no good if you dont have the knowledge and practice your survival skills. I try to hit the bike and the gym everyday. You dont have to be ripped but you do have to survive.

Comment#3: I ride my bike to work from the island we live on and stay very active throughout the days I am home tending to the garden and property.I quit smoking cigarette’s 3 years ago got more active and I am in better shape at 40 than I was at 20.

Comment#4: You need to be some what physically fit. At least enough to avoid injury and heart attacks, and to live without medical help. But, really in a survival situation you need to conserve resources and calories. That means not over exerting yourself. So, you can survive without being addicted to your Gym. Course, this refers to survival, not a combat, TEOTWAWKI, fugitive, type situation. You need to be fit for that.
