Food preservation. Which method(s) do you use and why? http://ruralspin.com/2012/03/10/food-preservation-lets-talk-methods/
Some comments we received:
Comment#1: Unfortunately, pressure canning does not preserve food forever (I wish)! However…drying food does preserve it forever. There has been dried foods taken from Egyptian tombs that are still edible.
Comment#2: Have to go with drying food. Takes up less space, which is critical sometimes.
Comment#3: I like to use various methods…not all my eggs in one basket so to speak….canning, freezing, drying….all have their good and bad points.
Comment#4: I do dehydrating, pressure canning and freezing. My fave is dehydration. Light weight, compact, long lasting. Anything you can dehydrate you can eat as is. Rehydrate with water otherwise.
