I just started using essential oils. I use peppermint for pain, lavendar to calm my ADHD son as well as treat sores, cuts, etc. Cinnamon in a mister with water keeps mosquitoes away. Tea tree oil for sore muscles. Rosemary for my son's gout. Grapefruit for depression. I also have a hard time "turning my brain off" to go to sleep and do a drop of lavendar and a drop of grapefruit on my palms, then rub on the soles of my feet. Since starting that, I go right to sleep. And I have cancer in my lung, so I use several that fight broncitis, including grapefruit because it helps with water retention.

At this time I don't carry any essential oils in my survival kit. I think this concept is a great idea. I've never really thought about adding them to my survival kit. The previous comment on oils to control bleeding, handle heat exhaustion and poison ivy/oak are oils I would definitely consider carrying now.
