Emergency Flask

We posted on our Facebook page:

Jaime Durant III posted this picture below and asked: “Just recently bought a 1oz flask key chain to add to my EDC … any suggestions as to what I should carry in it?”

Some comments we received:

Comment #1: Something maybe that could act as an antiseptic and a numbing agent at the same time :)

Comment #2: Maybe good old fashioned lamp oil…not as susceptible to evaporation in the case that your seal goes bad…it will actually keep the seal in good shape, will not corrode or rust the container, either.

Comment #3: Olive oil. Useful for chapped lips, irritated skin, softening scars, healing blisters, protects sunburned skin, helps start fires, rustproofs equipment, good for cooking and emergency calories. Even loosens grease on your hands after you’ve been working on your car and can be mixed with clay or charcoal to create greasepaint for camouflage or sunscreen.

Comment #4: It might be great for mixing a drop or two of chlorine with a bit of water before adding into your canteen or nalgene bottle. If you accidentally add too much chlorine, you can dump this little bit out and try again. Better that than trying to drink a quart of water with too much chlorine.
