Emergency storage space idea
We posted on our Facebook page:
What do you think of this for a secret emergency storage space idea?
Some comments we received:
Comment #1: Very interesting concept. Nice box spring. But since it is metal this would mean that the mattress would have a tendency to slip and slide. Not a good thing if you are in an earthquake prone area or are into wild sex with you significant other.
Comment #2: Under the mattress/bed is the first place searchers will look. Can’t say it’s secret (best place to hide stuff) but I can say it’s secure.
Comment #3: Put a pillow top fitted sheet over this before you put your mattress on. You can also take the liberty of attaching rubber strips to the underside of the fitted pillow or use adhesive to glue them on to the metal. this way the mattress wont slide as easily and if a burglar lifts up the mattress all he will see is what looks like another mattress or box-springs.
Comment #4: If this is bomb and water proof I could see this for putting things you need safe incase of flash flood, tornado, some other disaster…a burgular is usually in and out in less than 3 minutes, and I sure this thing has locks in place so it would be too much of a hassle for the average crook so I wouldn’t be worry about that,
Comment #5: At least in an earthquake the bed wouldn’t be moving around the room, however if it did and blocked the door and you weren’t in the room when it happened, good luck trying to access the room after that. Looking at the size of this storage, it takes up the space where the box spring would normally be and appears to be viewable from the end through the footboard lattice work. It’s unique for sure but doesn’t seem really viable or readily accessible without flipping off the mattress, queen or king size but hard to get the dimensions from the pic. There is a bed out there, called the super bed I think that has under the mattress storage with drawers on the sides and a long pull out storage bin accessible from the foot of the bed. It kind of looks like a waterbed frame whereas this one looks like a double gun safe laid on its back and then inserted into a bed frame. For this type of storage to work one would need a very high quality mattress to make up for the lack of box spring and some way to secure the mattress to the base.
